On Day 4, after a restful night, enjoy some free time on horseback, whether it’s a short ride or simply bonding with your horse, before we regroup with the hikers and continue our adventure by vehicle.

Where You'll Be Staying
Stay with the Locals, Live Like a Nomad
Authentic Kyrgyz Yurt Camps
Some nights we will spend in real, working shepherd camps. These are remote, rugged, and alive with tradition. You’ll be sleeping in insulated yurts, often shared, with multiple single beds. Some yurts have stove heaters, but it's the thick bedding that keeps the night’s chill at bay.
Modern toilet facilities are available on-site, but as we’re sure you can appreciate, the yurts do not have en-suite bathrooms. Not all yurt sites have showers, but we have arranged access at select locations.
Meals are home-cooked by your hosts. While you won’t find five-course dinners, you can expect hearty local meals, endless hot tea, and rich, comforting flavours that reflect the nomadic lifestyle.
This isn’t a hotel, it’s a cultural immersion. A rare chance to live like a nomad, if only for a couple of nights.
Local Comforts,
Heartfelt Hospitality
Family-run Guest Houses
Some nights, we will stay in family-run guest houses along our way — simple, warm, and full of character.
These guest houses are run by local families and offer a more traditional bed-and-breakfast style of accommodation. You’ll sleep in basic but comfortable double rooms, with access to shower facilities.
Expect warm hospitality and a chance to connect with the people who call these remote regions home. These stays offer a genuine look into everyday life in Kyrgyzstan’s smaller villages and towns. It’s all part of the journey: authentic, grounded, and unforgettable.
FAQ
-
You’ll fly into Manas International Airport (FRU) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s capital. This is where the trip begins and ends, and we’ll provide group transfers to and from the airport on the arrival and departure days.
-
July is one of the best times to travel in Kyrgyzstan. Expect warm days in the valleys (25–30°C / 77–86°F) and cooler temperatures in the mountains (10–20°C / 50–68°F), especially at night when it can get quite chilly. Pack layers so you’re comfortable from sunny hikes to crisp evenings in the yurt camps.
-
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Many travellers (including those from the EU, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free for short stays. We’ll provide guidance once you book, but it’s always best to check the latest entry requirements before travelling.
-
Yes, in hotels and guesthouses you’ll be able to charge your devices. Kyrgyzstan uses the Type C and Type F plugs (European standard, 220V).
In yurt camps, there is usually no electricity for charging, so we recommend bringing a power bank or solar charger.
-
Wi-Fi is available in most guesthouses and hotels, but not in yurts or remote areas.
We’ll arrange for you to get a local SIM card with data at the start of the trip, keeping you connected when possible, but in Kyrgyzstan’s wild landscapes, sometimes disconnecting is part of the experience.
-
